Balikuda: Balikuda excise department officials Tuesday conducted a raid on various places near Balikuda locality in Jagatsinghpur district and seized 21 litres of both country made and foreign liquor.
The sleuths have arrested two men in this connection. The accused have been identified as Mantu Nayak (38), resident of Tentuli bekari village and Biswanath Kandi of Brahmanadihi village.
According to a source, the officials under the direction of excise inspector Ratikant Panda conducted the raid acting on a tip-off. The sleuths seized 10 litres of country liquor from the possession of the Mantu while 3 litres of foreign liquor and another 8 litres of country-made liquor were seized from the possession of Biswanath.
Cases have been registered against the accused under appropriate sections of penal code in this connection. A detailed probe into their modus operandi is currently underway, a source in the excise department said.
