Angul, August 13: Turanga became the first team from Group-B, to enter the semifinals of the Angul Cup football tournament after edging past Bolangir 1-0 in a quarterfinal match here Thursday.
Despite attacking football from both sides, the first half remained scoreless. Turanga were the more opportunistic side in the second half as they scored the lone goal of the match early into the session. Bolangir players tried their best till the last moment, but could not find the equaliser.
Sepak Taraw tourney
Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association (OSSTA) will organise the All Orissa Sepak Takraw tournament at Berhampur, August 20-21. The competition will be organised in both the male and female categories.
Referee selection
Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will organise a selection trial for the third batch of the AIFF-FAO Referee Academy at Cuttack, Friday. AIFF referees’ director Goutam Kar and national referees Pratap Singh and Pradeep Nag will conduct the trial.
Selection camp
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) has selected 68 cricketers Wednesday, to attend the first phase selection camp trials at Cuttack, August 17-26. The players have been selected on the basis of their performances in Kalahandi Cup – 2015. OCA has requested all the players to report the association’s office by August 16.
