It is essential when you venturing out in the blazing sun and also an essential accessory for those who crave that glamorous look. On a routine day, go simple with everything else and hit the road with a classic sunglass and rest assured you’d make a few heads turn. Sunglasses are timeless because of the adorable shapes in which they come. A pair of goggles can inject in your otherwise mundane countenance dynamism and gloss. Orissa POST speaks to the fashion-minded in order to unearth the abiding appeal of shades.
According Kolkata-based Anwesa Mishra it is very important to consider the shape of the face when looking for a perfect pair of glasses. “A good pair is not only an accessory but a practical item too. A pair of sunglasses can protect the eyes and skin around the eyes from the damaging effects of sunrays. Sunglasses are always in trend although certain styles have fallen out of favour at different times. When shopping for sunglasses always buy one that suits your face. Nowadays, shades come in a wide range of lens colours. A buyer also has to consider the material used in making the lenses and frames. Sunglass is very important not only for fashion but also for health reasons, particularly for the eyes and skin. Sunglasses are of many types such as cat-eyed and Polaroid. But the wearer should choose one that suits him,” says Anwesa who loves to wear Ray Ban Idee sunglasses.
Subhadra Rath, a SBI official, says she never leaves home without her sunglass. “I don’t know about other people but I can never seem to leave the house without a huge pocketbook. And I know it is not good but I just can’t help myself. I need the space: wallet, makeup, hairbrush, mints and sunglass, of course. Even on rainy days. Even on cloudy days, on days when it looks so gray that the world is devoid of colour – my sunglass is always there. No, I’m not hiding behind my glasses. I’m not trying to look glamorous even. I’m just protecting my eyes.”
Sumitra Daspallai of Bhadrak says sunglasses are her favourite fashion accessory. “One can also have so much fun with them. This accessory is affordable and because you take it on and off throughout the day, it is also a low-commitment fashion statement. So, my tip when picking a new sunglass is choosing something that you love and that excites you. However, I love wearing Aviator
sunglasses.”
Silpi Patnaik from Bhubaneswar says, “As the dark lenses cover the eye portion they increase facial attractiveness and show a clear link of beauty. Sunglasses also give one a smarter look but for me a sunglass is first and foremost a fashion accessory. It
makes me look fashionable and stylish and also saves from harmful rays.”
