Jeypore, Sept 19: A gas cylinder-laden tanker Saturday ran over a biker and left another critically injured on NH-26 near Teliguda village under Sadar police limits in Koraput district.
The deceased was identified as Uddhab Nayak (34) and the injured was Binod Bisoi (25) of Choupadi village under B Singhpur police limits. Binod was admitted to the local sub-divisional hospital.
According to onlookers, the duo, on their way to Jeypore, was first hit by the trolley of a truck. While Binod was thrown out to a distance, Udhhav, who was riding the bike, fell down on the road. He came under the wheels of a speeding Raipur-bound fuel tanker from Vizag and died on the spot. Alerted, the police reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital. The police also seized the tanker and detained its driver.
