Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has again tested positive for coronavirus for the second time in a span of 15 days, BCB chief physician confirmed Saturday.
Mortaza, who plays only one day internationals and had stepped down from captaincy earlier this year, had contracted the viral disease in June. He had confirmed the news via a Facebook post June 20.
“There is no reason to panic. He will give another test on eighth (8 July) and he might be cleared at that point of time. In most cases the patient is cleared by 14 days but that is not mandatory. Someone might take more time,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Last month, Nazmul Islam, who was involved in distributing food and other supplies in his hometown Narayanganj , one of the worst-affected areas in Bangladesh, also tested positive for COVID-19.
Prior to that, former Bangladesh cricketer Nafees Iqbal, who is the elder brother of ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, had also tested positive for coronavirus.
