Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: State’s own tax revenue has grown by more than 26 per cent in April- October period of current financial year on the back of healthy rise in stamp duty and registration fees along with state excise collections among others.
During the first seven months of this fiscal, total collection from own tax sources was at Rs 11, 936.93 crore, up 26.14 per cent against the same period of previous fiscal.
Presenting the updates on revenue position, additional Chief Secretary Finance, R Balakrishnan said that own tax revenue collection during 1st half of the current financial year was encouraging.
There have been higher collections from stamp duty, registration fees, renewal of mining leases, land revenue, electricity duty and state excise, he added.
Similarly, total collections from non-tax sources were at Rs 3,728.69 crore upto October, 2015 with a growth of 4.09 per cent over the corresponding period of last fiscal.
Meanwhile, state plan expenditure has also grown by 27 per cent during this period as compared with the same period of last fiscal.
The utilization of budget in infrastructure building has been to the tune of Rs 4,449 crore up to October, 2015, up around 4 per cent higher than the last year.
Fund utilisation in social sectors like education, health, ST and SC development, labor welfare, panchayati raj, women & child development, employment, training & technical education have been around Rs 7,854 crore, which is around 7 per cent higher than that of last year.
Reviewing the implementation of various important decisions and directions of the government, Chief Secretary GC Pati directed the department officials to focus on collection of revenue arrears and on line roll out of notified public services.
