Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday handed out a 3-C success mantra to students in the state, saying “courage, conviction and commitment” can lead to success in anyone’s life.
“Courage, conviction and commitment – these three words are important in life to get success. If you have conviction on any subject, proceed with commitment and courage. You would surely succeed in your life,” said Patnaik in his address to students at a state-level students’ convention of Biju Chattra Janata Dal (BCJD), the students’ wing of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD, here. Nearly 20,000 students from various parts of the state attended the event organised at Freedom-fighters Ground at Unit IX.
Reposing faith in the strengths of the youth and students, the chief minister said his dream of making Orissa a developed state can be realised only through the participation of the youth and students.
“The party had been established in the name of Biju Patnaik, who used to love students and the youth a lot. To take Orissa’s name to a higher level of prominence, the support of the youth and students is necessary,” Patnaik said.
Highlighting the initiatives taken by his government for the development of students and the youth in the state, he said that the BJD government has formulated a comprehensive youth policy to ensure “holistic development” of youngsters. Stressing that Orissa is on top among states in terms of industrialisation, Patnaik said, “For the entrepreneurship and employment of youths, the state government is laying more emphasis on the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) and the ancillary sectors.”
Speaking about the prevailing drought situation in the state, he said: “We have braved natural calamities like flood, cyclone and the drought situation successfully for the last 15 years. We have taken a number of steps to overcome the prevailing drought situation”. Patnaik pinned hopes for a better harvest during the current crop season.
BJD women’s wing chief Pramila Mallick, speaking on the occasion, lambasted the central NDA government for its apathy towards Orissa. Food minister and BJD youth wing president Sanjay Das Burma and BCJD president and Chandbali MLA Byomakesh Ray said BJD would continue to fight against the negligence of the Centre towards Orissa.
