Bhubaneswar: An unidentified man was found hanging from a guava tree on the premises of an Orissa Administrative Service (OAS) officer’s residence at Unit-6 area here Wednesday.
OAS officer Arunanchala Das and his wife found the man hanging from the tree at their residence (VR/63) when they were going out for a morning walk. Das immediately informed police.
Police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem. A forensic team also reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
The deceased has not yet been identified. Members of Das’ family and other residents of the area said they had never seen the man in the locality.
“We are probing the case from all angles,” a police official said.
Some empty alcohol bottles were lying in a park near Das’ residence, according to sources. “The boundary wall of the park is topped with glass but the glass on some part of the wall may have been removed. The man might have been killed in the park and brought to the premises of the officer’s quarter,” said a source.
