Cuttack, Dec 4: Radha Raman Club pipped Sports Hostel by a solitary goal in a match of the FAO First Division Super League at the Barabati Stadium here Friday.
After an exciting yet goalless first half, Janma Xess scored the all-important goal of the match in the 71st minute to ensure a narrow win for Radha Raman.
The second match between SAI-STC and Rising Students ended in a goalless draw. The game was a drab affair as most of the time the ball was confined to the midfield.
Saturday’s matches: Bidanasi Club vs Radha Gobinda Club; Jay Durga Club vs Independent Club.
Double crown
Orissa emerged champions in both the men’s and the women’s categories of the National East Zone Softball Championships at Imphal, Wednesday.
In the men’s final, Orissa got the better of hosts Manipur 9-1 to clinch the title. In the women’s segment, Orissa prevailed over the same opponent 11-4 to take top honours.
Amiya stuns Siddharth
In another upset of the ongoing 22nd State Snooker and Billairds Championships, Amiya Ranjan Nayak beat defending champion Siddharth Sen at the Vintage Club in Bhubaneswar, Friday. In a keenly contested match, Amiya edged past Siddharth 3-2 (24-59, 55-53, 49-80, 65-30, 62-61) to enter the quarterfinals.

Sushant selected
Sushant Sahu of Berhampur has been selected to participate in the National Senior Weightlifting Championships at Patiala in the last week of December. Sushant was selected for the event on the basis of his performance at the recently concluded All India Inter-Railway Weightlifting Championship at Chennai. He had emerged champion in the 66kg category there.
