Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: Government College of Physical Education (GCPE), Bhubaneswar emerged champions of the Inter-College Women’s kabaddi tourney after prevailing over Indira Gandhi Mahila Mahavidyalaya 38-14 in the final here Friday.
Bidu Prabha Swain, Saraswati Swain, Amita Bhata and Sasmita Pradhan of GCPE, who regularly play in national-level tournaments made the difference for their side in the final.
Meanwhile on the basis of performances in the tournament, a 12-member Utkal University team was announced for the Inter-University East Zone Women’s Kabaddi Championship at the Utkal University premises here December 15-18.
The squad: Bidu Prabha Swain, Saraswati Swain, Anupa Sahu, Sradhanjali Panda, Harapriya Mahapatra, Sasmita Pradhan, Anupama Sethi, Jhunubala Bindhani, Nikita Nayak, Pratibha Behera, Puspalata Jena and Puspita Jena.
Orissa teams in final
Both Orissa boys’ and the girls’ teams won their semifinal matches emphatically to enter the final, in their respective categories of the SGFI National Rugby Championships at Jagdalpur, Friday.
In the boys’ segment, Orissa thrashed Bihar 21-0 and will meet Maharashtra in the final Saturday. In the girls’ category, Orissa drubbed Chhattisgarh 47-0. The girls face Bihar in the summit clash.
Teams announced
OCA announced a 19-member team Friday, for the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match against Tripura. The game will be played at the BOSE Ground, Cuttack, December 5-8. Subhransu Senapati has been appointed skipper.
OCA also announced a 16-member state team for the match against Assam at Guwahati, December 7-9. Wicket-keeper batsman Biswajit Das will lead the squad.

Orissa suffered a humiliating 0-2 defeat against Delhi in the boys’ event semifinals of the ongoing 19th National Junior Sepak Takraw Championship here Friday. Orissa players had no clue against a dominant Delhi side.
