Jagatsinghpur: In an unfortunate incident of domestic violence, a woman was hacked to death by her outraged husband following heated altercations between the two late Wednesday night.
The man allegedly killed his wife at Harasina village of Mangarajpur panchayat under Kujanga police limits in Jagatsinghpur district 12 years after their love marriage in 2008.

According to a source, a severe quarrel erupted between the husband identified as Meghanad Tarai (42) and his wife Parbati (37) over a family dispute. The matter turned violent and assumed serious proportions as he started thrashing Parbati’s head with a billhook.
Meghanad’s father and a neighbour tried to stop the accused but in vain. The victim sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.
Rumour has it that Meghanad had been often contacting his former girlfriend which was vehemently being opposed by his wife, some villagers expressed. Bitter relationship prevailed between the accused and the deceased over this matter, they added.
The accused was arrested by Kujanga police and a probe into the matter is underway. Police interrogated him before forwarding him to a local court Thursday. Mortal remains of the victim were sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.
