Bhubaneswar: The chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is likely to submit in a month the inquiry report on the alleged mismanagement of Lord Jagannath’s ‘Brahma Paribartan’ rituals that took place June 15.
“I have completed the process of hearing. I am going to start compiling the inquiry report soon. I will submit the report to the temple management committee maybe in a month,” said SJTA chief administrator Suresh Mohapatra to Orissa POST Monday.
Mohapatra also said he may make a few recommendations like prohibition of carrying mobile phones and other electronic gazettes into the temple premises to avoid such irregularities during the next Nabakalebara festival of the lords.In the wake of the irregularities, the SJTA had suspended Jayakrushna Dasmohapatra and Kashinath Dasmohapatra from Daita Seva for an indefinite period.
Rubbishing reports on the abolition of hereditary servitor system in the temple published in a section of the press, Mohapatra said, “So far no initiative has been made to abolish the hereditary system in the temple. It is a part of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954.
We cannot take any such action without bringing amendments to the Act”.Commenting on removable CCTVs installed in the sanctum sanctorum, Mohapatra said CCTV surveillance system has been activates at various locations on the temple premises by Orissa Police Housing Corporation (OPHC) in view of the security threat to the temple and the alleged criminal activities taking place on the premises.
“In the last temple committee meeting, it was decided to temporarily dismount the CCTV cameras inside the Jagamohana for repair works. After completion of the work, those cameras will be reinstalled. During the secret rituals (Gupta Niti), the cameras can be switched off,” added the chief administrator.
