Cuttack, Dec 12: Orissa colts were bundled out for 146 in their first innings on day one of their four-day U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy cricket match against Vidarbha at the BOSE Ground here Saturday. In reply Vidarbha were 85 for two at stumps.
Opting to bat first, Orissa started poorly and were reduced to 21 for three from which they could never recover. Sandeep Patnaik (39, 95b, 6×4), Subhransu Senapati (34, 95b, 2×4, 2×6) and Saurabh Rawat (38, 74, 4×4, 1×6) tried their best to resurrect the innings, but failed to consolidate after getting good starts. For the visitors, Aditya Thakare (3/11), Parth Rekhade (3/47) and Ankush Wakode (3/9) bowled well.
Brief scores: Orissa 146 (Sandeep Patnaik 39; Ankush Wakode 3/9); Vidarbha 85/2 (Ankush Wakode 41; Rajkishan Patel 2/29). Match to continue.
Finalists spotted
Sergeant Police Institute (SPI) and Mumbai Magicians entered the final of the All India Callaghan Cup Rugby Championships after winning their respective matches at the Barabati Stadium here Saturday. The final will be played Sunday.
In the first semifinal, SPI prevailed over CRPF 27-3 and in the second Mumbai got the better of Delhi Lions 19-5. Both ties were one-sided affairs.
Hockey tourney
Hockey Orissa (HI) will organise a five-a side hockey tournament at the Barabati Stadium here in the second week of January. The decision was taken during the AGM of Hockey Orissa, chaired by secretary Pratap Satpathy at the OCA Conference Hall here Saturday. All the HI affiliated districts and associations will participate in the tournament.
Archery meet
Orissa Archery Association will organise the IVth Prize Money Archery Championships at Koraput, December 18-19. Thirty five participants and 10 technicians will participate in the meet both in the boys’ and the girls’ categories. The tournament carries a total prize purse of `60,000.
