Bhubaneswar: The state government has approved two major infrastructure projects of the Berhampur Development Authority (BDA) of RS 153 crore here to improve infrastructure in the region.
The state-level empowered committee headed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has in principle approved the Berhampur North City and Eco Retreat Hub projects of BDA, official sources said Wednesday.
The Berhampur North City project is to be undertaken over 101 acres in Sitalapalli mouza of Konisi tehsil of Ganjam district.
The estimated cost for initial development of physical infrastructure and public amenities is around `113 crore.
The Eco Retreat Hub is to be established over 47 acres in Udayapur and Venkatraipur mouza under same tehsil at an estimated cost of `40 crore for development of physical infrastructure and the beachfront of the Bay of Bengal, sources stated.
The projects will be implemented through the comprehensive development plan (CDP) Infrastructure Development Fund scheme.
Padhi directed the housing and urban development (H&UD) department to guide other major urban local bodies (ULBs) of the state included under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme to undertake similar projects.
The Chief Secretary also advised the department to prepare projects on realistic assessment of the people’s need.
He directed officials to ascertain the unutilised land already allotted to various government and non-government agencies in different ULBs to implement infrastructure projects.
Department officials have been asked to make layout plan mandatory before approval of building plan in ULBs across the state.
