Rourkela: Police recovered a mutilated body of a youth from the roadside in Prem Nagar area under Bondamunda police limits in Sundargarh district Saturday morning.
The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased. Prima facie it appears that the youth was stoned to death by some miscreants the previous night. A blood-stained stone was recovered from the crime scene.
Some local people first spotted the body lying in a pool of blood with the face smashed beyond recognition before informing the police.
A team from Bondamunda police station reached the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for post mortem.
As it is a clear case of murder, the police are on the job of ascertaining the deceased’s identity. They have sought information from nearby police stations regarding any missing report lodged recently.
A detailed probe has been launched.
