Cuttack: Manoj Mallick alias Dipu and Omprakash Swain, the former aides of the Dhalasamanta brothers, were bludgeoned to death by the criminal siblings and their lieutenants in a farmhouse at Khuntakata near Athagarh, said the commissionerate police (CP) Friday. Seven people were arrested in this connection.

Claiming to have conclusively solved the mystery behind the murder of the two friends-turned-foes of the Dhalasamanta brothers, twin-city Police Commissioner YB Khurania told a news conference here that the criminal siblings had disposed the bodies of the two men in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. “The brothers had packed the two bodies in two sacks and transported them to Jharkhand in a four-wheeler. They disposed of the two bodies near a culvert at Ghoshipulia under Badajamada police outpost of Gua police station in West Singbhum district,” he said.
The Dhalasamanta brothers and their lieutenants had burnt the bodies of Dipu and Om by pouring petrol on them. “Badajamada outpost police had seized the two half-burnt bodies November 18, 2013 after being informed by the locals. The bodies were sent for post-mortem. Gua police had then buried the bodies after registering a case in this regard,” added Khurania.
Seven aides of the criminal siblings, including their business partner Nirmal Rout and close confidant Debashish Kar, were arrested in connection with the murder of Dipu and Om, added Khurania. “We have arrested seven people who had helped the Dhalasamanta brothers in killing their two former aides. Our officers are conducting raids to arrest seven more accused,” he added.
Dipu, a resident of Chauliaganj Thattarisahi, and Om, a resident of Kalyaninagar under Madhupatna police limits, were prominent members of the Dhalasamanta gang. Dipu, a sharpshooter, and Om, both accused of many criminal incidents, had become too familiar with the criminal network of the Dhalasamanta brothers.
“The Dhalasamantas and their associates then abducted the two men from their homes November 12, 2013 on the pretext of thrashing out a settlement of the disputes,” said the CP adding “Our officials have collected the post-mortem reports and other documents from Gua police station.”
“We will produce the criminal siblings in the Cuttack Sadar SDJM court Saturday to seek their consent for polygraph tests,” Khurania said. The CP seized the skeletal remains of Dipu and Om from a cremation ground in Jharkhand, said DCP Sanjeev Arora Friday. “We will send the skeletal remains for examination at SCB Medical College and Hospital,” he added.
Fake voter Identity card
Sushant had managed to collect a voter ID card by identifying himself as Aditya Singh. He had also collected a PAN card in the name of Aditya Singh. Earlier, police had seized a fake driving licence from Sushant that was issued in the name of Manoj Patnaik. PNN
