Cuttack, March 5: Dipu Marandi and Dusti Nayak emerged champions in the boys’ and the girls’ categories of the Biju Patnaik Mini Marathon here, Saturday.
In the boys’ category, Dipu of Tarala Upper Primary school beat the competition offered by Rudra Prasad Swain and Madhusudan Besara who finished second and third respectively.
In the girls’ segment, Dusti of Kaji Bajar HS took top honours while Bharati Samantray secured the second position and Sajeda Parvin stood third.
In the Wakathon competition for competitors between 40-50 years age category, Prafulla Chandra Mishra emerged champion in the men’s event, while Sabita Parida took top honours in the women’s segment.
There were 600 participants in the Mini Marathon, while 100 took part in the Wakathon competition.
Sunrise enter final
Sunrise Sports Club, Koida entered the final of the 12th All India football tournament after pipping South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) by a solitary goal in a Group-B semifinal match at the Ispat Stadium in Rourkela, Saturday. Saswat Bisi scored the all important goal of the match in the first half. SECR tried their best till the last moment, but could not find the equaliser. D Oram of the winning team was adjudged the best player of the match.
