Doha: The Taliban are known for their oppressive measures against women. Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, many women successful in their respective careers have fled the country. The latest to join the list is Afghanistan’s biggest and most popular pop star Aryana Sayeed. Initially, there was no idea about her whereabouts. However, Aryana Sayeed in an Instagram post Monday informed her fans that she is in Doha.
“I am well and alive and after a couple of unforgettable nights, I have reached Doha, Qatar and am awaiting my eventual flight back home to Istanbul,” Aryana told her 1.3 million Instagram followers.
Aryana, 36, has been quoted as saying by the ‘New York Post’ that she left Kabul in an US cargo plane. She incidentally is a very popular face in Afghanistan and had recently appeared as a judge in a singing competition show on TV.
As expats from all over the world battle to obtain flights out of the nation, the singer is one of the fortunate few. She now lives in Istanbul with husband and music producer, Hasib Sayed. “I have many stories to share with you after I come home and my mind and emotions return to normal from a world of denial and shock,” Aryana said in an emotional social media statement.
