Dhenkanal: After Kanapura High School in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal district, Siddheswari Government High School at Rai Narasinghpur in the same area has been closed after a female teacher and five girl students tested positive for Covid-19.
After the reports of the students and teacher testing positive came to fore, the headmaster of the school immediately took the decision to close the school.
A decision regarding the reopening of the school will be taken later after taking the situation into consideration.
In case of Kanapura High School, it was closed for seven days after 20 persons including 14 students contracted the virus. All the students are hostel boarders. Further, the rest of the infected persons included five teachers and a peon. A total of 344 samples were collected from the staff and students for Covid-19 test.
The students are presently attending online classes.
Meanwhile, two girl students from Kotagara High School have also tested positive for Covid-19.
When contacted, Anlabereni medical officer Pramil Kumar Pradhan said a Rapid Response Team (RRT) has visited the schools, provided medicine and advised them all for home isolation.
