Bhubaneswar: A low pressure system has formed over the east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal under active influence of the cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal and its neighborhood, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar informed Saturday.
The system is likely to move west-north-westward and concentrate into a ‘Depression’ during the next 48 hours.
According to the IMD source, this is the second low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal this week. It is likely that several districts of Odisha will witness heavy rainfall for next two to three days.
Owing to the formation of low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, squally weather with wind speed reaching 45kmph to 55kmph and gusting to 65kmph is likely to occur over west-central Bay of Bengal along and off Odisha coast from Saturday and continue till September 14.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during this period.

It is predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Deogarh districts September 13 and 14.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh during the next two days.
Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Deogarh districts between September 14 and 15.
