Bhubaneswar, July 10: The state government added five heritage sites to the e-ticketing system Sunday. Tourists will now be able to book entry tickets to Konark temple, Rajarani temple, Khandagiri, Ratnagiri and Lalitgiri (along with sun temple museum and Ratnagiri museum) online.
Officials said the facility will be cheaper than manual ticketing that used to be followed at these sites. “To book tickets one needs to visit the ASI website and through it the ministry of culture website. Else one can book tickets through Payumoney.com,”ASI superintendent in-charge HA Naik said.
Currently ASI has 116 ticketed monuments, and 32 museums, including three world heritage sites, under it. E-ticketing is expected to help improve tourist services at such sites and to manage them better. The system is expected to reduce discrepancies.
ASI has already launched e-ticketing facility in coordination with Canara Bank at some monuments in Delhi and Lucknow.
According to ASI officials, online ticketing has been initiated at all ticketed monuments and work is under way to procure hardware for the sale of e-tickets at various points of sale too.
