Bhubaneswar: Following the Supreme Court judgement on admissions to High-Tech Medical College-Rourkela, the state government is now planning to issue a public notice in media to help the students and parents aware of the apex court’s order.
The SC had disallowed admission of 100 MBBS students in the college for 2015-16 academic year. Till now, the government has not issued registration numbers to these students. So, the future of 100 MBBS students who had taken admission in the medical college has been pushed to uncertainty, said sources.
Skill development and technical education department officials Thursday said they would issue public notice in media to help the students and their parents aware about the order of the apex court.
According to official sources, neither the state government nor the Medical Council of India (MCI) has given any decision in favour of the students. The SC had also disallowed the move.
Sources said the MCI had denied permission to the medical college for admissions to its sanctioned strength of 100 seats for 2015-16 session citing non-fulfilment of certain criteria. The Hi-Tech Group challenged the MCI’s move in the Orissa High Court which stayed the MCI’s order and directed the health and family welfare ministry to provide a provisional permission to undertake admissions to its sanctioned strength.
The HC had also directed the institution to undertake the admission process according to the norms. However, the college authorities undertook admissions in violation of norms, forcing the government and the MCI to move the SC. The apex court disallowed admissions to 100 MBBS students for 2015-16 academic year.
