Bhubaneswar: The school and mass education department has called a meeting of concerned officials October 19 to finalise the dates of matriculation examination 2017.
“As Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will conduct the examination, we have called a meeting Wednesday,” S&ME minister Debi Prasad Mishra said here Sunday. According to sources, the State Election Commission (SEC) is planning to conduct panchayat elections in February next year. The annual matriculation examinations are also usually conducted in the same month.
Teachers will be engaged for elections duty while school buildings will also be used for election purpose. Therefore, both examination and election cannot take place on one time.
So, the BSE is planning to start the examination from either February 28 or March 1 next year, sources said.
During last panchayat elections, the matriculation examinations were held one week after the completion of polls. The same thing may happen this year too.
