Odisha weather April 18: IMD issues heatwave warning for these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Tuesday issued a Yellow Warning for heatwave conditions in several districts of Odisha.

Hot and humid weather condition is very likely to prevail over next 2 to 3 days across the state, the IMD bulletin stated.

Upto 8.30 AM of April 19:  As per the Yellow Warning, heatwave condition is likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of April 19 to 8.30 AM of April 20: As per the Yellow Warning, heatwave condition is likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Gajapati districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state.

The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next 2 to 3 days and a gradual fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius thereafter at many places in Odisha.

The maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to be 40 degree Celsius or more. The mercury may breach the above-normal temperature mark by 2-3 degree Celsius at a few places in the state.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a clear sky is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 42 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Baripada while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the bulletin informed.
