Puri: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife had ‘darshan’ of the Lords in Sri Jagannath temple and offered prayers to lord Jagannath, his elder Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
The couple too offered prayers to Devi Mahalaxmi and Vimala in separate temples located inside the temple premises.
They were received by the temple officials and priests on arrival at the Simhadwar, the main entrance to the temple.
The Sri Jagannath temple administration presented Khandua (Holy cloth of the deity) and a Pattachitra of the Trinity to the couple.
Odisha and Jharkhand people share a similar culture and tradition, Soren told the waiting media after offering prayers to the lords.
He said both states are experiencing Maoist issues. It needs a concerted effort by both the states and Center to curb this menace.
The Jharkhand chief minister arrived in Puri Friday late at night and left Saturday after offering prayers to the presiding deities of the Sri Jagannath temple.
