Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Thursday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.
Upto 8.30 AM of May 5: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput districts, the IMD bulletin informed.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha.
From 8.30 AM of May 5 to 8.30 AM of May 6: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
Apart from that, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Nabarangpur districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and at one or two places over the remaining districts in Odisha.
The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state over the next two days and gradual rise by 3 to 5 degree Celsius thereafter.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 34 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 37.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Nuapada and the lowest minimum temperature of 19.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Nayagarh, the bulletin stated.
