04d1c933da8075ae11c236153c7016d0Suppose your wedding is over and you are back from honeymoon. It is now time to get back to work and you are in a dilemma how to dress up to office as you have to keep your boss and mother-in-law happy at the same time. Apply a bit of your common sense to organise your wardrobe to add a traditional feminine touch to your professional attire.
Beautician Sangeeta Srivastav said a newly-married woman is supposed to wear red and white bangles (‘shankhas’), vermilion on their forehead and a ‘mangalsutra’. She has to wear bright-hued saris, and if it is not possible she has to wear heavy dresses in bright colours. But at the workplace it is a little uncomfortable to wear bright colours, heavy costumes and ornaments as they draw unnecessary attention. So you can smartly adhere to the rules while looking professional.

“Looking smart and professional at the workplace for a newlywed woman is not at all a daunting task. It is rather a balancing act, which requires innovativeness. You can take it as an opportunity to explore new attires to flaunt the new phase of your life,” said Neelam Khuntia, a management professional based in Bhubaneswar.

Style trek

Take a cue from these expert tips and evolve your own style to look attractive socially and professionally.

Choose bright kurtis and pair them with leggings, jeggings, jeans and palazzos. If you have to use your cool coloured kurtis with leggings, a bright-coloured dupatta is the best choice. It is better to shun too much embroidery, shiny fabrics and sequins

Tunics and shirts can also be worn to work but it depends on how you carry and pair them. Opt for good quality and bright-coloured fabrics and pair them with trousers or embroidered palazzos, leggings or lehengas. Add on a statement dupatta or stole to enhance your feminine grace

Be innovative while picking your jewellery, handbags and sandals. They should not be too loud, but should look sober and feminine

You must have lots of jewellery in your closet as wedding gifts. Choose the light ones like medium-length necklaces with pendants, small earrings, rings, bangles and bracelets which are classic yet modern. Wear the pieces to match your clothes. Simple studs in the ear and a statement ring will make you look stunning

Choose an office-friendly ‘mangalsutra’ which is not too heavy and has smaller chains. Today ‘mangalsutras’ are available in the form of bangles – the best option for office-goers
n Keep your make-up simple. Sport a ‘bindi’ and ‘sindoor’. You can also opt for a small maroon ‘bindi’ if you feel that bright red ones look are a tad too attention-grabbing. Go for liquid vermilion and apply it just at the tip of your parting
