Angul: A man allegedly branded his 12-year-old son with hot iron for not going to school in Chhendipada area of Odisha’s Angul district, a source said Sunday.
According to the source, the accused father Subhash Pradhan subjected the boy to such cruelty after being provoked by his second wife.
A local source informed that Subhash and his second wife had already been physically assaulting and torturing the minor.
The matter came to fore when the victim’s grandmother shared the details with locals, who then promptly informed Childline officials about the incident.

On being informed, Childline personnel reached the spot and rescued the minor boy.
Cops from Chhendipada Police Station detained both Subhash and his second wife in this connection.
The minor’s health condition was critical at the time of filing this report.
