Bhubaneswar: Energy Conservation plays a vital role in mitigating climate change and every watt of energy saved contributes to our sustainable future, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on National Energy Conservation Day, Thursday. He said, “Let’s all join hands for an energy-efficient economy and society, judiciously use energy, embrace renewable energy, and ensure zero wastage for a sustainable future.” National Energy Conservation Day aims to raise awareness about global warming and climate change while encouraging initiatives to conserve energy resources. It also celebrates the nation’s achievements in energy efficiency and conservation. National Energy Conservation Day holds even greater significance as the world faces the dual challenges of climate change and energy security. By promoting energy conservation, we can reduce our reliance on nonrenewable fuels, mitigate climate change, and create a more sustainable future for all.
On this occasion, an awareness procession was organized by the Department of Energy in the City. It was flagged off by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Minister Pratap Keshari Deb. An awareness drive was also launched on this occasion. Minister Deb said, “The electricity demand is increasing day by day. Keeping this in mind, there is an absolute need for infrastructure strengthening and power conservation.” He emphasized preventing the wastage of electricity and adopting new methods of energy conservation.
Meanwhile, the Regional Science Centre (RSC), Bhubaneswar observed the National Energy Conservation Day for school students by organizing a ‘mega poster-making contest’ and a ‘slogan writing contest’ on the theme “For better and safe future we have to save and conserve energy”. The event was attended by around 200 students. The RSC Project Coordinator Kapil Jain is hopeful for organizing such programme on a larger scale in the future to encourage energy-saving practices and sensitizing people about energy conservation for a sustainable future.
