New Delhi, June 1: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has begun a probe into allegations by sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra about a scam in procurement of medicines in government hospitals Thursday.
A probe has been ordered and searches are being carried out at various places, ACB sources said. The anti-graft body is likely to write to the Delhi government to share details about the procurement of medicines.
Mishra had claimed that the powers of Delhi government-run hospitals to buy medicines were put to an end by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the behest of Health Minister Satyendar Jain. “Jain has himself admitted that Rs 300 crore have been allocated to procure medicines. The Delhi government boasts of having the highest budget earmarked for the health sector. In such a scenario how come there is a shortage of medicines?
ACB chief M.K. Meena ordered the probe after Mishra complained against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain of abusing their power to benefit pharmaceutical companies. An ACB team also went to the Delhi Secretariat to search for evidence.
CBI questions Satyendar Jain
New Delhi: The CBI Thursday questioned Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain for over eight hours in connection with a money laundering probe initiated against him for allegedly turning black money into white in 2010-12 and 2015-16 using his companies and Kolkata-based data entry operators. Jain was questioned at the CBI headquarters in south Delhi’s Lodhi Road area. The questioning which started at 11 a.m. went on till 7.30 in the evening, according to CBI officials. The Central Bureau of Investigation in April initiated probe against Jain and registered a preliminary enquiry against the Aam Aadmi Party leader, who is known to be close to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
