Bhubaneswar: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Friday convicted Micro Finance Ltd (MFL) CMD Durga Prasad Mishra in connection with chit fund scam.
The court reserved its judgment and would pronounce the quantum of punishment July 18, sources said.
CBI had arrested Mishra in December 2014 on charges of duping investors to the tune of Rs 400 crore. He has been lodged in Jharpada jail for two and half years. Mishra has already pleaded guilty in the court.
Notably, the special CBI court had sentenced three-and-half-years rigourous imprisonment to MFL Managing Director Ashok Kumar Patnaik July 7. The court directed the firm to deposit Rs 105 crore as compensation. PNN
