Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) vice chairman N Thirumala Naik reviewed the ongoing Town Planning (TP) scheme here Saturday and assessed the progress of infrastructure development across TP scheme number I, II, III, and IV, which covers eight revenue villages, including Paikarapur, Sijiput, Naragoda, Sahajpur, Tamando, Bijipur, Nuagaon, and Shyamsundarpur.
Officials reported that BDA has completed 60km of embankment roads, 64.9km of drainage work, and constructed 29 culverts in the revenue villages.
Additionally, bitumen work has been completed on a 4km stretch. The hearing process regarding objections and suggestions from landowners under the TP-VIII scheme for Andharua and Daspur is ongoing.
BDA has also proposed 14 new TP schemes in Zone 4 to enhance urban infrastructure. Naik directed officials to expedite execution and conduct regular progress reviews to ensure timely completion.
The meeting was attended by Khurda Collector Chanchal Rana, BDA Secretary Manas Ranjan Padhi, and Deputy Commissioner (TP) Bhabataran Sahu.
As per the scheme, landowners contribute 40 per cent of their land for infrastructure, while 60 per cent remains as TP area, featuring roads, drainage, water supply, sewerage, and electricity.
The initiative aligns with the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) 2010, which proposes a 64.9km ring road. BDA plans to implement 45 TP schemes across 58 revenue villages to facilitate planned development and minimise land acquisition.
