New Delhi: The ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare informed the Parliament Tuesday that 10 agriculture mandis (markets) from Orissa have been interlinked with Electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM).
In a written reply, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh said a total of 10 mandis from the state have now been interlinked with the e-NAM to ensure that benefits percolate down to the farmers and a transparency on the pricing is maintained through the online portal.
Till now, only 13 states have joined the bandwagon of e-NAM while many are yet to join the fray. Meanwhile, talks are on to bring more states under the ambit of e-NAM.
Moreover, BJP-ruled states fared well with 100 mandis coming under e-NAM in Uttar Pradesh, 58 in Madhya Pradesh and 40 in Gujarat.
Under the project, the portal connects mandis of all the states. Its software is provided to all the willing states without cost.
The Centre has been providing a grant of `30 lakh to the proposed agriculture mandis of the states. Round-the-clock helpline services for farmers have been provided for obtaining information related to the portal.
The minister informed the Parliament that the states are required to fulfill three requirements – single point levy of market fee, single unified trading licence in the state and e-trading – to be in the portal. They are also required to send detailed project proposals for integrating the markets with e-NAM. PNN
