Baripada: A unique scene from Neda village under Saraskana block in Mayurbhanj district has gone viral on social media, where a groom was ferried on a boat across floodwaters to reach the bride’s house.
Due to continuous rainfall in the upper catchment areas, a flashflood in the Subarnarekha River inundated the village. With roads submerged under 4-5 feet of deep water, the groom, Deepak Kumar Bera, 28, had to be ferried on a small country boat from his home to the point where the decorated wedding vehicle waited for him on the other side.
Though the village was surrounded by floodwaters, the family decided not to postpone the marriage. Despite the challenges, they carried on with the preparations, determined to fulfil the planned ceremony.
