Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Saturday described Sambalpur as a land of bravery and declared that the state government will take all necessary steps to develop historical freedom struggle sites in the district.
Attending the state-level ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ in the district as the chief guest, Majhi said, “The event is not just a cultural gathering, but a celebration of our social unity, familial love, and prosperity.”
Describing Sambalpur as a land of bravery, Majhi said, “Our government will take all necessary measures to develop historical freedom struggle sites in the district.”
He added that Sambalpur and every district in western Odisha carry a unique message of art and culture, and contribute to Odisha’s identity.
Nuakhai is an agrarian festival, a celebration of farmers’ hard work.
The government is committed to multiplying the income of farmer families – not just doubling it, he said, adding, “Our government is the people’s government – your government.
This is not just about paperwork or publicity.”
Majhi also reiterated the government’s decision to industrialise every district.
He highlighted the importance of transportation for fast development and announced plans to develop an industrial corridor connecting Paradip, Choudwar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Rourkela, linking eastern and western Odisha.
This will ensure uninterrupted service and fast, coordinated development. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik, state BJP chief Manmohan Samal and MLAs attended the programme.
Before attending the event, the Chief Minister, along with ministers, MLAs, and other dignitaries, visited and took blessings of Maa Samaleswari and Maa Patneswari.
