Keonjhar: Vigilance officials Wednesday arrested a junior clerk of a school in Keonjhar district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a retired peon.
The accused was identified as Rupchand Nayak of Nicholson Forest School in Champua. Nayak was caught red-handed while taking money from the retired peon, authorities said. Investigators said the peon had taken voluntary retirement in 2024 and was awaiting his pension.
Nayak allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 to upload the man’s service book and related documents to the HRMS portal. The complainant alerted the Keonjhar Vigilance unit, which laid a trap and seized the bribe money.
