Bhuban: A 21-year-old woman, a daily wager, was allegedly gangraped by four persons in Dhenkanal district, police said Monday, adding that all the tormentors have been taken into custody. The matter came to the fore after she filed a complaint at Bhuban police station in the district Sunday.
The victim alleged that Tima Dehury, 38, and Jadumani Dehury, 23, of her village; Sibaram Dehury, 35, from a neighbouring village; and Ranjan Diani, 26, of Kendudhipi village in Jajpur district sexually assaulted her repeatedly by threatening her.
The victim visited Bhuban hospital with the help of an ASHA as she felt unwell. However, doctors there referred her to Dhenkanal DHH, where she was found to be five-month pregnant. She is currently staying at Sakhi One-Stop Centre.
According to police, the survivor has already lost her mother. Though her father is alive, she had to work as a daily wager to support her four younger sisters. Taking advantage of her vulnerability, the four sexually abused her on multiple occasions. Police registered a case (109/26) and arrested the four accused Monday.
