Jaipur: Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena Wednesday termed the Odisha skeleton incident a blot on a civilised society and announced that he would donate one month’s salary to the victim’s family.
The incident pertains to Keonjhar district of Odisha, where a man, Jitu Munda, reportedly carried his sister’s skeleton to a bank as proof of her death to withdraw money.
A video of him leaving the Odisha Gramin Bank branch with the remains went viral on social media.
Sharing the video on X, Meena said, Jitu Munda’s helplessness and pain shook me. Harassing a poor tribal person in the name of procedural formalities is a blot on any civilised society.

He demanded strict action against those responsible and urged Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to intervene.
I strongly urge that immediate and stringent action be taken in this matter, he said.
Expressing solidarity, Meena added, Jitu Munda’s pain is my pain. It is my duty to stand with him in this difficult time. I will donate one month’s salary to his family. The amount will be transferred soon.
He also said it was a collective responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not recur and that vulnerable individuals do not feel helpless in the future.
