Baripada: A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, officials said Sunday.
The incident took place Saturday when the accused “forcefully” took the 14-year-old girl to a deserted place from a marriage ceremony and allegedly raped her, ASP Deepak Kumar Gachayat said.
Based on the girl’s statement, police arrested the man, he said.
A medical examination of the girl has been conducted, and further investigation is underway, the officer added.
