Jharpokharia: Six students staying at the Saraswati Sishu Mandir hostel in Sarasakana, Mayurbhanj district, fled the hostel by scaling its boundary wall late Monday night, school authorities said.
Police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from the school authorities and have been searching for the students. The six include four Class 10 students and two Class 9 students.
School Pradhan Acharya (Headmaster) Laxmikant Behera said CCTV footage showed the students leaving the hostel in between 12:15 and 12:20 a.m. School authorities searched nearby areas and informed the students’ families. The students later boarded a bus from Rairangpur to Bhubaneswar.
The conductor became suspicious after hearing their conversation and handed them over to police at the Saikula police outpost under Ramachandrapur police station in Kendujhar district, according to reports. The circumstances that prompted the students to leave the hostel were not immediately clear.
