Raurkela: The main accused in the much-hyped Raurkela Circuit House arms case, Prakash Paswan, was produced in court Monday after the end of his remand and was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Police, meanwhile, took Prakash’s previously arrested associates, Amit Nayak and John Nayak, on one-day remand for further investigation.
Police are questioning the two to uncover the full extent of the alleged illegal syndicate operating from the highly secured government premises like Circuit House and to cross-check information and details that Prakash allegedly disclosed during his remand.
A total of 12 people, including Paswan, have been sent to jail in connection with the Raurkela Circuit House case.
The arrested accused include Prakash Paswan of Gopabandhupali, Adarsh Sahu of Raiboga, Suraj Gumpha of Lathikata, Narayan Sahu of Ganjam, Vicky Sharma of Biramitrapur, Kirtan Singh of Bishra Chhak, Gandhi Road, Rakesh Sahu of Plantsite area, Sagar Sahu of GT Lane and Bikash Dungri of Mahatab Road.
Amit Nayak and John Nayak, who were taken on remand Monday, are also alleged to be key associates in the illegal operation.
Police have invoked provisions of the Arms Act against the accused, indicating that the alleged syndicate was involved not only in the misuse of the VIP guesthouse but also in serious offences involving illegal arms trafficking.
