Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police’s Special Crime Unit conducted raids in the Kalpana and Laxmisagar areas of Bhubaneswar following complaints of illegal sale of ‘ganja, gutkha, pan masala’ and other tobacco products Tuesday.
The operation focused particularly on shops located near educational institutions, where police checked for the sale of intoxicants and tobacco products. The drive was aimed at preventing students from being exposed to such substances and curbing their illegal sale.
Special Crime Unit personnel inspected several shops and checked whether prohibited substances and tobacco products were being sold. They also examined whether shopkeepers were complying with applicable rules.
