Bhubaneswar: As the international book fair in Abu Dhabi continues to attract many book lovers from September 11, several renowned Indian publishing houses are participating in the literary extravaganza. And BK Publications is the sole publishing house from Odisha at this prestigious international platform, helping to open up a new opportunity to introduce Odia literature and publishing to a global audience.
Publisher Bijay Kumar Mohapatra has previously participated in several international book fairs in Berlin, Frankfurt, Italy, London and Sri Lanka, as well as numerous national book fairs held in New Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati, Kochi and Chennai. Through these efforts, he has been working to give Odisha’s publishing industry a distinct identity.
Notably, BK Publications has brought out several books on Odia literature, along with hundreds of English classics. The publishing house has also played a notable role in taking important Odia literary works to readers, including Surendra Mohanty’s ‘Nilashaila’, Kahnu Charan Mohanty’s ‘Kaa’ and the autobiographies of Gopinath Mohanty, Santanu Acharya and Janaki Ballabh Patnaik.
BK Publications continues its efforts to take Odisha’s literature, writers and cultural traditions to readers across the world through translations and English-language publications. Its participation in the Abu Dhabi Book Fair is expected to be a milestone in further establishing Odia publishing on the international stage. The publisher said the event will continue until September 18.
