Puri: A 23-year-old pregnant tourist and her husband were allegedly assaulted by hotel staff following a dispute over food at a hotel under Sea Beach police station, Thursday.
The couple was among 13 tourists from Mysuru, Karnataka, who had come to Puri. According to the complaint, the tourists found hair in one of the food items and asked the hotel staff to replace it.
The ensuing argument allegedly turned violent, with the hotel staff pulling down the shutter and assaulting Bharat Chandra of Mysuru and his pregnant wife.
The woman allegedly suffered an abdominal injury after being hit against a table during the incident. A PCR team later rescued the couple and took them to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Sea Beach police have registered an FIR and started an investigation into the allegations.
