Bhubaneswar: Campaigning has picked up across colleges and universities in Odisha ahead of the October 15 student union elections, with candidates reaching out to voters through posters, banners, and social media, even as reports of clashes at some campuses raise law-and-order concerns.
Campuses, including Utkal University, Rama Devi Women’s University, Ravenshaw University, and Fakir Mohan University, have seen increased campaign activity as candidates seek to secure student support in the final days before polling.
Posters highlighting candidates and their agendas have splashed across campuses, while social media platforms are being used to publicise campaign promises and engage with voters.
Candidates will get another opportunity to present their positions during the ‘Why I Stand For’ meeting scheduled for October 14, a day before polling. With the campaign entering its final phase, candidates and their supporters are working to reach as many voters as possible.
However, reports of group clashes and tension at some colleges have cast a shadow over the campaign. The incidents have raised concerns about ensuring a peaceful atmosphere during the remaining campaigning period and on polling day.
