BHUBANESWAR: Wedding is an official ritual recognising the partnership between two souls. A Hindu marriage, often, showcases the traditional value and rituals strengthening the relationship of two individuals. However, with modern lifestyle the meaning and value of marriage has un
dergone a sea-change over the years. Apart from the groom and bride, their families are also keen to associate themselves with their counterparts in style. Eventually, a wedding planner can hardly meet all the demands of the bride and groom and comprehend their requirements. Considering this, Dremz Creation has come up with the novel concept– “Orissa Wedding Expo” – at a city hotel, beginning Friday.

BATTLE FOR ATTENTION

Eighty stalls, representing wedding consultants, furniture, wedding photographers, artificial jewellery to bridal jewellery stores, cosmetics to bridal trousseau, were hosted under one roof. Orissa POSTsurveyed the services and offers at the expo, inaugurated by Chandi Bhandar proprietor Manik Hansa. It also interacted with the stall owners and clients. Ambari Naaz of Pretty Woman Boutique claims, “We sell wedding gowns, kurtis and designer suit pieces. We hope to meet clients’ garment needs. We are in the business for 15 years”.

Umesh Motawani of Crazy-18 thinks girls these days love to wear gowns at their wedding. ‘‘Hence we have a collection of bridal gowns to meet every wallet and buyer”. A soon-to-be bride Shilipi Das arrives at the venue with her family members. “I have already bought a wedding saree and some bridal jewellery for myself. Thanks a ton, to the organisers all wedding needs are available at one place,” says Das with a beaming smile.

A clothesline boutique from Kolkata – ALBARI – specialises in bride and groom trousseau. Boutique owner Arifa Akhter says people come with specific shopping ideas for bright bridal wear or grooms wear. ‘‘So, we are a onestop solution for every bridal wear. The response is overwhelming as crowds keep on gathering and the show is building up,” says a beaming Akhter. Guman Singh of Paramparik Turbandisplays Rajasthani turbans for wedding.

Although, it is his first experience at an expo, men seem to like his turbans, Singh claims. “Give us a phone call for wedding turbans, we can parcel them sans a hassle. You can find turbans for all classes of wedding planners at the expo”. Yash Mehta, who owns Karishma Bridal and Artificial Jewellery, is a busy person with a number of his clients surrounding him for designer bridal jewelleries. He has little time to speak to the scribes. Two relatives — Ratna and Ankita — were found shopping at the premises. “We have come for wedding outfits. Right now, we have done the Bhagalpuri blouse shopping. We hope, wedding melas like this will happen frequently. It’s easy to buy everything under one roof”.
