Kataka: The Orissa High Court’s two-day conference of District Judges began at the Odisha Judicial Academy Saturday, with Chief Justice Harish Tandon inaugurating the event and launching an online summons management system for government employees.
The newly introduced system is an online platform designed to facilitate the execution of court summons without disrupting the functioning of government offices. It is expected to expedite case proceedings, minimise interruptions to court work and reduce travel-related expenses.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Justice Tandon emphasised the need for judges to ensure that cases are disposed of within the stipulated time frame. In his welcome address, Justice Chittaranjan Dash highlighted the importance of judicial decisions and stressed the need for judges to maintain a healthy work-life balance while ensuring efficient and effective delivery of justice.
Justice Shashikanta Mishra, Chairman of the High Court’s Committee on Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, outlined the features and framework of the newly launched system. He informed that the initiative would initially be implemented as a pilot project in four districts.
The system is expected to expedite the process of recording testimonies of government employees and prevent unnecessary delays in judicial proceedings. Justice Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi, a member of the committee, observed that the new initiative would help strengthen the judicial institution and promote transparent and fearless leadership in the justice delivery system.
