Bhubaneswar: In a first of its kind, the BJD government is going to celebrate this Children’s Day in a big way. The government plans to celebrate the day right from the state-level to village and school-levels. The government Thursday asked the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to celebrate the day at their level too.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will address the students, teachers and parents here from a function to be held at Capital High School ground. Live telecast of his speech will be shown at all schools, panchayats, blocks and district headquarters.
Now, the housing and urban development department has asked the ULBs, which are not located at district headquarters, to make arrangements to telecast the screech of the CM at their respective levels.
“The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water department is providing all logistic support like preparation of venue, fixing of LCD projector, installation of cable TV connection/disc antenna connection for beaming the telecast of the event by all major vernacular TV channels.
“You are, therefore, requested to observe Children’s’ Day in the same manner at the Urban Local Bodies, which are not situated in the district headquarters,” director of municipal administration wrote to all ULBs Thursday.
Authorities of the civic bodies have been asked to organise the Children’s Day programmes in a befitting manner in consultation with the concerned collectors. The expenditure for the same will be borne out of the resources available with the ULBs, the director said.
There will be an hour-long programme from 11 am to 12 noon during which the CM will deliver his speech to the students. The CM’s speech will also be telecast live by Doordarshan in video conferencing mode.
