Bhubaneswar: The state government Tuesday launched a new portal ‘Arpana’ for online processing of applications for pension revision in respect of pre-2016 pensioners.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched this portal at the Secretariat this evening in the presence of Finance Minister Shashibhusan Behera and Chief Secretary AP Padhi, among others.
Patnaik said that all pension disbursing authorities, treasuries, special treasuries, Accountant General, Orissa and Controller of Accounts, Orissa will work on the portal for processing the pension applications.
While using this portal for revision of pension, pensioners willing to do an Aadhaar authentication will not be required to submit any hardcopy of the application to the pension distributing authority. However, pensioners who opt not to use Aaadhaar can apply online but they will have to submit the print copy of the application with their signatures to the pension distribution authority.
Once applied, SMS and e-mail will be sent to the pensioners at each stage of processing of their application. A help desk and online lodging of grievances method will also be available in the system.
The new portal has been launched after the government’s decision to enhance the pension of all eligible state government pensioners with effect from September 2017.
The state government had also decided that pensioners will be eligible for full pension if they have completed 25 years of qualifying service instead of the earlier provision of 33 years.
“In view of the above decision, large number of pensioners will get additional benefits by way of a further revision of their pension,” a finance department official said.
During the occasion, Patnaik also launched a facility for online submission of pension applications by retiring employees of the state government.
As in the case of pensioners applying for revision of pension, here also pension applicants will be provided with SMS and e-mail about the status of their applications.
The CM also launched an online sanction order generation facility which will allow the government to generate all its financial sanction orders using this facility. Provisions of digital signature will also be there under this facility soon to minimize paper work.
Patnaik also launched a mobile application for the purpose of electronic remittance by tax payers and citizens.
“The mobile application will help citizens and tax payers make payment to government anywhere and anytime using their smart phone,.” He said
