Cuttack: Authorities of Sriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here have decided to declare the health institute as a no-vending zone and open two more gates for reducing traffic congestion.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the hospital traffic management committee here Thursday. SCBMCH superintendent Shyama Kanungo, deputy commissioner of police Akhileswar Singh, hospital administrative officer Pratap Mishra, assistant commissioner of police (traffic) PK Dalei, among others, were present at the meeting.
“The private security guards deployed at the hospital will be imparted training on traffic management. The hospital authorities will provide walkie-talkies, sticks and whistles to the security guards. Personnel involved in traffic management will be in touch with Mangalabagh police,” said a SCBMCH official.
According to sources, the commissionerate police will train altogether 344 security guards at SCBMCH to manage traffic at the hospital. “We are planning to install CCTV cameras at all important places in the hospital premises and set up a control room for surveillance system by January. Entry passes will be provided to all doctors and employees of the hospital,” said the official.
